Discuss Your BookIs This You?
Some memoirs are created primarily for family. Others are written to reach a broader readership: to illuminate an experience, explore an important idea, or tell a story with genuine narrative appeal. We help authors turn lived experience into compelling books that are shaped for readers as well as written in the author’s authentic voice.
Publishing Paths
The right route depends on your goals, audience, timeline, budget, and desired level of control. We help you understand the options and choose a realistic strategy for your book.
With traditional publishing, a literary agent generally submits the manuscript to publishing houses. The process is highly selective and can take time, but the publisher typically assumes responsibility for editing, design, printing, distribution, and sales. We can help develop the manuscript, prepare query and submission materials, research appropriate agents, and guide you through the submission process.
Independent publishing gives the author greater control over timing, design, production, pricing, and distribution. The path may involve working with an independent or hybrid publisher or assembling a professional team to self-publish. We can help evaluate the options, identify the right partners, and coordinate the editorial and production process.
Memoir Writing Services
Every book begins in a different place. Depending on your goals and the material you already have, we can provide focused strategic guidance or manage the development of the manuscript from initial concept through publication planning.
Clarify the book’s central idea, intended audience, narrative promise, market position, and strongest path to publication.
Through interviews, research, and close collaboration, we develop and write a complete memoir that reflects your voice, experience, and point of view.
For authors writing their own manuscripts, we provide structure, accountability, editorial direction, and practical guidance throughout the writing process.
We assess structure, pacing, character development, thematic cohesion, and narrative clarity, then help shape existing material into a stronger book.
We can prepare book proposals, query letters, and submission materials, research literary agents, and guide authors through the traditional submission process.
We help authors develop an independent publishing plan and coordinate the editorial, design, production, distribution, and marketing professionals the book requires.
Services may be commissioned individually or combined into a comprehensive engagement based on the needs of the book.
How It Works
We identify the central idea, narrative arc, and audience—the structure that turns a collection of memories into a book with purpose and momentum.
Through interviews and close collaboration, we develop the manuscript in a voice that feels unmistakably yours.
Developmental editing and line-level polish bring clarity, coherence, and momentum to every chapter.
We help determine the right path for your book, whether that means approaching literary agents, pursuing an independent or hybrid publisher, or assembling the professional team needed to self-publish.
“You asked the right questions—and then did a beautiful job. Without you, there is no way I could have gotten this book done.”
— Herzl S., published memoir author
Published memoir projects are personally led by founder Diana Holquist, a traditionally published author with Hachette and Penguin Random House. She has also helped many clients shape manuscripts and proposals that went on to secure traditional publishing deals.

No. We work with authors at many stages, from an initial idea or collection of stories to a complete first draft. Depending on what you already have, the project may involve ghostwriting, book coaching, developmental editing, or a combination of services.
Full-service ghostwriting begins at $1 per word and includes manuscript development, writing, and an agreed-upon revision process. Memoirs intended for traditional publication typically are expected to be between 65,000 and 80,000 words. Independently published books may be shorter. Book coaching, developmental editing, book proposals, submission materials, design, production, and marketing support are scoped separately according to the needs of the project.
A full ghostwritten manuscript typically takes six to twelve months, depending on its length, complexity, and the author’s availability. Traditional publication adds an unpredictable agent and acquisition process, followed by the publisher’s production schedule. Independent publication generally moves faster, but design, production, and distribution still require additional time after the manuscript is complete.
Yes. We can help position the book, prepare query and submission materials, research appropriate literary agents, and guide you through the submission process. Memoir is one of the most competitive categories in traditional publishing. A strong manuscript is essential, but publishers also consider the book’s premise, audience, timing, and the author’s ability to reach readers. We cannot guarantee representation or a publishing offer, but we make sure the manuscript and supporting materials are presented professionally and strategically.
Yes. For authors who choose not to pursue a traditional deal—or who want greater control over timing, design, and production—we can help develop an independent publishing plan and coordinate the editorial, design, production, and distribution professionals the book requires.
No reputable writer, agent, publisher, or marketer can guarantee a traditional publishing deal or bestseller status. We can create a strong manuscript, position it thoughtfully, and connect you with experienced publishing and marketing professionals. The final outcome also depends on the market, the author’s platform, timing, and reader response.
Based on Philadelphia’s Main Line, we work with authors locally and worldwide. We can meet with clients in person throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, New Jersey, and New York, including New York City, and work with authors elsewhere by video conference. Travel can also be arranged when a project would benefit from in-person interviews, research, or archival work.
