Book Coaching

Book Coaches are like personal trainers for your writing.

Support, feedback, and accountability to get your book done.

Book coaching is a collaborative process between an author and a coach. A book coach acts as a motivator, project manager, butt-kicker, and guide, helping the writer from a blank page to the first draft to a finished, polished manuscript that’s ready for publication. The process includes identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the author’s work, suggesting ways to improve it, providing publishing industry insights, and keeping the writer on track throughout the writing process. A book coach ensures that your vision for your book is realized and that the final product is polished and ready for publication. Book coaches can also help authors navigate the often-intimidating publishing process.

THE PROCESS

step 1

The coach meets with the author for one hour twice a month (every other week) or on the schedule they determine is best. The meetings can be in person if the author is in the Philadelphia or Philadelphia Main Line area. Otherwise, the meetings will be via Zoom.

step 2

Together, they make a plan to get the book done in the desired timeframe.

step 3

The coach reads the material the author writes and edits at the developmental level. The coach brings in any material that would be helpful to the process. For example, scene charts, character arc charts, excerpts from books that achieve what the author is after and so on.

step 4

They work through the book together until the desired end is achieved.
